Role Description
Form Energy is hiring an Electrical Test Automation Engineer to ensure the proper ramp and stabilization of our automated operational and electrical testing systems across manufacturing lines. This role reports into our sustaining operations team. You will be instrumental in designing, integrating, and scaling robust testing architectures, and you will be involved in commissioning new production lines in partnership with our manufacturing and design teams. By establishing overarching test frameworks and data analysis systems for our iron-air battery production, you will ensure our product meets the highest standards of reliability. What you'll do:
Design, develop, and integrate automated inline and end-of-line test systems to validate the operational, electrical, and physical performance of our battery systems.
Ensure seamless data collection and analysis from various automated test stations to monitor process stability, establish pass/fail criteria, and support real-time manufacturing decisions.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to commission new production lines, seamlessly integrating testing and validation systems into the overall manufacturing architecture.
Develop, implement, and troubleshoot complex test procedures, ensuring comprehensive validation of system performance, safety, and reliability.
Develop and maintain test documentation, including system architectures, test plans, network diagrams, and validation procedures.
Drive continuous improvement in test coverage, cycle times, and equipment reliability for all automated testing stations across manufacturing operations.
What you'll bring:
Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Test Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
3+ years of experience in systems integration, automated testing, or manufacturing control systems.
Proficiency in designing and developing automated test architectures and software (e.g., LabVIEW, Python, or similar) for manufacturing environments.
Strong data analysis skills, with the ability to interpret complex operational data sets, troubleshoot line failures, and apply statistical process control.
Hands-on experience integrating various test hardware (e.g., DAQs, electrical measurement devices, sensors) with industrial automation platforms and databases.
Strong knowledge of industrial networking, communication protocols, and system-level troubleshooting.
Where you'll work:
This role is based at Form Factory 1 in Weirton, WV—an easy commute from the city of Pittsburgh, PA. This 550,000-square-foot facility is our hub for high-volume battery production and a leader in the new era of American energy manufacturing. Relocation assistance is available.
