Position Summary: SUMA Wealth is seeking a skilled Accountant to join our finance team. The Accountant will be responsible for managing daily accounting activities, ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with financial regulations. This role requires a detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of accounting principles and the ability to manage multiple financial processes efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Daily Accounting Operations:
  • Perform daily bookkeeping activities, including invoice processing, vendor payments, payroll entry, and daily sales reconciliations.
  • Prepare detailed month-end financial reports and other periodic financial statements.
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable:
  • Manage all aspects of accounts payable (AP) and accounts receivable (AR), ensuring timely and accurate processing.
  • Maintain accurate records and control reports for all accounting transactions.
  • Bank Reconciliations and Financial Analysis:
  • Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy in the accounts.
  • Analyze financial data to identify discrepancies and areas for improvement in financial practices.
  • General Ledger Management:
  • Oversee all transactions posted to the general ledger, ensuring accuracy and compliance with established accounting standards.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of accounting policies and controls.
  • Financial Reporting:
  • Develop and maintain timely and accurate financial statements and reports that comply with applicable financial reporting standards.
  • Assist in the preparation of balance sheets, profit and loss statements, and other financial documents.
  • Regulatory Compliance:
  • Ensure compliance with relevant financial policies, regulations, and legislation.
  • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in accounting regulations.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of experience in accounting, with a thorough understanding of AP, AR, and general ledger management.
  • Strong knowledge of US GAAP, tax principles, and regulatory compliance; CPA certification is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel, and experience with Google Sheets.
  • Experience with QuickBooks or similar financial accounting software.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and verbal.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy and ability to manage multiple tasks.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team in a remote setting.
