The Role
We are looking for a passionate and experienced Senior Food Scientist who is excited to work with egg-derived ingredients and products on our Applications team. You are encouraged to apply if you have a deep knowledge of food chemistry, food proteins, ingredient functionalities, formulation and processing principles, and evaluation tools (analytical, texture, sensory, etc.). Using your passion for exploring the unknowns and expertise in food ingredients/applications, you will have the opportunity to check out the world’s first precision fermentation-derived egg proteins.
As a key member of the Applications team, you will own projects independently as the technical lead from project planning to execution. You will work with the Head of Product Management on development of finished products containing EVERY’s animal-free egg protein from concept to commercialization with our B2B partners.
Detailed roles and responsibilities include:
- Drive new product development from bench-top prototyping through pilot and plant trials in support of EVERY's objectives with our B2B customers.
- Oversee and/or conduct product formulation, benchmarking, testing, sensory and instrumental analyses of product prototypes.
- Provide technical expertise on EVERY proteins, their functionalities and application in food (e.g. bakery, beverages, alt meat, etc.) to our B2B partners.
- Work with vendors and ingredient suppliers to develop product solutions, including optimal solutions for process implementation and improvement.
- Work with EVERY operation, manufacturing, quality assurance, marketing and business development/sales for product commercialization and launch.
- Write technical reports, memorandums and product literature.
Other responsibilities:
- Capture product and applications-related IP.
- This will be initially an independent contributor role with no supervisory responsibilities, but mentoring/coaching junior team members is expected.
- Potential travel to B2B partner locations
- Other assigned tasks as needed.
Minimum Qualifications
- MS in Food Science with 7+ years of industrial experience in food protein ingredients/products R&D or applications.
- Experience taking novel products from benchtop to pilot and industrial scale and adapting benchtop formulations for scaled up equipment and processes.
- Prior experience working collaboratively and cross functionally with functions including Manufacturing, Operations, Quality, Business Development/Sales etc.
- Prior experience with B2B, CPG or food service.
- Advanced knowledge in food chemistry and processing, ingredient functionalities and interactions and product formulation.
- Prior experience on food protein R&D or applications.
- Experience creating and formally presenting work in small and large group settings
- Curiosity and tenacity to explore the unknowns.
- Self starter with ability to work independently and manage timelines on individual projects.
- Strong written and verbal communication.
- Must be authorized to work in the United States for The EVERY Company DBA Clara Foods.
Preferred Qualifications
- PhD in food science with 3+ years of industrial experience in food protein ingredients/products R&D or applications.
- Experience working externally with B2B partners and vendors
- Prior experience in egg replacers and/or plant-based food.

Pay Range: $119,000 - $135,000 + Stock Options
At EVERY™ pay ranges are subject to change and assigned to a job based on the location specific market median of similar jobs according to 3rd party salary benchmark surveys. Individual pay within that range can vary for several reasons including skills/capabilities, experience, and available budget.
