Zócalo Health is a Latino-founded healthcare service designed for the Latino patient. Our primary care model blends tradition with innovation and prioritizes a trusting relationship between the care team and member. Each member of Zócalo Health is paired with a promotor de salud (community health worker) to establish a relationship to better understand members’ goals and connect them to a Zócalo Health physician. Our team of physicians, hired from the community, focus on prevention, primary care, behavioral health, and traditional practices that work together to support our members’ wellness. Operating in the states of California and Texas, Zócalo Health offers affordable and convenient care memberships that provide same-day access to culturally-aligned providers.
Job Summary
Zócalo Health is looking for a physician who will participate in developing care plans tailored to meet the health and social needs of our members.
We are searching for someone who is flexible and able to problem solve when situations arise in real-time. Someone who has delivered care in a virtual telehealth setting, and capable of managing a diverse care team with clinical and non-clinical members. Ideally this individual will have a track record in the health/tech industry, with experience in primary care.
Major Responsibilities
Family Medicine (MD or DO) with current & unrestricted state license in good standing
Board Certified
Approachable and open communicator with an interest in leading active collaboration with care teams.
Current DEA Certificate
3 years of experience in Primary Care and/or Urgent Care
Patient-focused with exceptional service delivery
Considerate, comprehensive, and compassionate medical care. Displays sensitivity and respect for patients' cultural and religious preferences
Excellent Clinical Skills
Have had direct patient care within the last year
Bilingual (English and Spanish)
Responsibilities
Manage a virtual patient panel with a broad array of patient needs; conducting a mix of acute, chronic, and well visits for adults.
Render culture-centered healthcare that gives members the tools to navigate through their health journey.
Use a holistic approach to customize care programs with an emphasis on wellness rather than illness.
Take ownership developing and co-building clinical guidelines, policies and processes.
Leads a variety of health education and promotion services on a bi-weekly basis, including presentations, educational and skills-based workshops, trainings, small group discussion/facilitation, staff development projects.
Produces content (blog and video-blog) that translates medical jargon to the language of the people, making primary care more relatable.
Maintain CME and updated clinical knowledge for management of primary care conditions.
Ongoing collaboration with virtual care and launchpad teammates via daily huddles, communication platforms, and other systems.
Submit availability to work on a quarterly basis, 8 - 12 weeks in advance.
Respond to text or telephone requests for advice within 24 hours.
Be available for scheduled telemedicine visits within 24 hours of request Monday through Friday excluding holidays and designated time away.
Depending on our activities and needs, your responsibilities may be adapted and evolve according to the specific needs. You will not face these challenges alone; other Zócalo team members will provide technical support, including comprehensive guidelines and protocols.
Job Requirements
Language: Fluency (verbal and written) in English and Spanish
Have completed an accredited Internal or Family Medicine residency program.
Licenses/Certifications:
Board Certified in Family or Internal Medicine (MD or DO), with current & unrestricted state license (California and/or Texas) in good standing.
Current DEA Certificate
Experiences:
3 years of experience in Primary Care and/or Urgent Care
Have had direct patient care within the last year
