About Us

Zócalo Health is the first tech-driven provider built specifically for Latinos, by Latinos. We are developing a new approach to care that is designed around our very own shared and lived experiences and brings care to our gente. Founded in 2021 on the idea that our communities deserve more than just safety nets, we are backed by leading healthcare and social impact investors in the country to bring our vision to life.

Our mission is to improve the lives of our communities—communities that have dealt with generations of poor experiences. These experiences include waiting hours in waiting rooms, spending mere minutes with doctors who don't speak their language, and depending on their youngest kids to help them navigate our complex healthcare system. At Zócalo Health, we meet our members where they are, bringing care into their homes and neighborhoods through our team of community-based care providers and virtual care offerings.

We partner with community-based organizations, local healthcare providers, and health plans that recognize the value of culturally aligned care, which are not limited to brief interactions in an exam room. Together, we are building a new experience that revolves around the use of modern technology, culturally competent primary care, behavioral health, and social services to provide a radically better experience of care for every member, their family, and the communities we serve.

We are committed to expanding our reach to serve more members and their communities. We are looking for passionate individuals who share our belief that healthcare should be accessible, personalized, and rooted in the community. Join us in our mission to ensure that no one has to navigate the complexities of the healthcare system alone and that everyone receives the local, culturally competent care they deserve.

Role Description

We are seeking a dynamic and driven Graduate Level intern to join our team for the Summer of 2025, with the possibility of extending the internship if desired. This is an exciting opportunity to join Zócalo Health at a pivotal moment in both our company's journey and the evolution of primary care. As we continue to expand our impact, Zócalo Health is poised to lead the transition from fee-for-service to value-based care, particularly within the growing Latino community across the U.S.

Our interns are more than just temporary team members—they become deeply integrated into our operations and have the opportunity to make substantial contributions. This role is ideal for someone passionate about healthcare innovation and policy, and strongly desires to contribute to meaningful change in underserved communities.

The Intern will report directly to the Chief Operations Officer and support the ongoing priorities for the growth and strategy work of the Zócalo Health leadership team.

The intern will contribute in the following areas:

  • Market Strategy and Expansion
    • Conduct research on Medicaid, Medicare, and Duals landscape to identify opportunities for growth
    • Analyze competitive landscapes and evaluate potential partnerships with health plans
    • Leverage business development insights to assess the impact of new federal policies and market dynamics
  • Business Development Support
    • Assist in developing pitch materials and proposals for health plans and strategic partners
    • Support tracking and analysis of partnership pipelines to ensure alignment with Zócalo Health strategic goals
  • Performance Analytics and Growth Insights
    • Analyze member engagement and utilization trends to inform go-to-market strategies
    • Develop frameworks to assess the effectiveness of outreach initiatives and partnership models
  • Special Projects and Cross-Functional Initiatives
    • Lead or support strategic projects intersecting clinical operations, product development and go to market expansion

Qualifications

  • Current enrollment in a graduate level program, with a focus on healthcare, strategy, or a related field (MBA, MPH, MHA or related is preferred)
  • Strong analytical skills, with experience to conduct in-depth research and synthesize data into actionable insights.
  • Proven ability to lead and manage projects, with a track record of delivering results.
  • Passion for healthcare innovation and a deep commitment to improving access to care for underserved communities, particularly the Latino population.
  • Proactive, self-starter with excellent communication and collaboration abilities.

You must be authorized to work in the United States. Remote Work can be done from anywhere in the U.S.
